Penny Dreadful, Showtime's new horror series from Skyfall's John Logan and Sam Mendes, is debuting soon, and IGN has your first look at the newest behind-the-scenes videoblog from the show.

Set in 1891, Penny Dreadful -- whose cast includes Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper and Timothy Dalton -- exists in a world where classic horror characters like Dr. Frankenstein and Dorian Gray co-exist and much of the story is centered around a theater where the Victorian-era locals go to see some rather macabre and visceral productions, in the Grand Guignol style. In this new video, John Logan discusses the theater's inclusion in the story and the work that went into building the fully functional set you'll see in the series.
Penny Dreadful will debut on Showtime on May 11th, but the series will have a premiere screening this coming Sunday at the SXSW festival in Texas. Showtime have released a special poster for that event, which you can see below.
