Inhumans Won't Be Substitutes for Mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver have been confirmed for Avengers: Age of Ultron for a while now, but there's one hitch: They're mutants. That part isn't the problem - we're equal opportunity after all. However, 20th Century Fox has rights to the X-Men and that all important term "mutant." It's got to be a challenge for Marvel Studios to work around that hurdle. Some spoilers follow for the MCU and Agents of SHIELD.

Many have been speculating Marvel will take another approach rather than just attempting to avoid the word altogether. Fans have been guessing Marvel would go off book and turn the brother and sister team of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver into Inhumans. It would fit in with the recent appearance of what seems to be a Kree on Agents of SHIELD.

For anyone concerned about that path, you can take a deep breath. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently spoke with Huffington Post and tackled the issue very specifically. In response to a question about whether the Inhumans would be used to get around the "m" word, Feige replied, "As it relates to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? No. No, no, no."

Feige also mentioned they are looking at the Inhumans story and that it has potential for a great movie, but they are not linking it with Avengers: Age of Ultron.
