Tom Six Talks Human Centipede 3, Releases First Official Image

Writer-Director Tom Six has apparently carried out his threat to deliver a third Human Centipede movie.

The Dutch auteur recently released the first official screenshot from the body horror flick, titled The Human Centipede 3 (Full Sequence). Mercifully, the image does not involve any post-surgical ‘pede people. In fact, it’s shockingly safe for work:

The first released image from The Human Centipede 3 (Full Sequence).

At the center of the image above are the actors who played the villains in the first two films, Dieter Laser (owner of most metal name on earth) and Laurence R. Harvey. According to Six they play totally different characters, so there’s no continuity issue with Laser’s...situation...from the first film. And who are all those poor folks locked up on the periphery? They’re prison inmates. Remember Six’s promise of a 500-person centipede?

Despite the gruesome implications of that setup, Six told EW that Part 3 won’t be nearly as “gross” as the other two films. He says, “it will be the most controversial one politically-wise. It will have a lot of self-mockery and will be the most darkly comical of the three. Parts 1 and 2 have a very European feel. Part 3 is very American with the highest budget, a big movie score, widescreen, and an XXL human centipede. It’s set in an American maximum security prison in the middle of the desert. Plot-wise I won’t share details yet but if you let your imagination run wild you might get ideas.”

In the EW piece, Six takes a bit of a swipe at the horror genre in general, arguing his movies aren’t standard horror at all. He says, “I think the genre with mostly masked killers or creepy ghosts on a killing spree is pretty boring and stupid.”

There are no release details for The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) yet, but Six says it will come out later this year. In addition to Laser and Harvey, Oscar nominee Eric Roberts, porn star Bree Olsen, Tiny Lister (Friday, The Fifth Element), Robert LaSardo (Nip/Tuck), and Six himself also star.

Six says this is most likely the last in the series, but I’m banking on a surprise math-centric follow-up: The Human Centipede 4 (Fibonacci Sequence).
