Marvel Studios likes to plan ahead with their characters, throwing in many teasers and on-screen appearances that hint towards future stories.
One villain appearing in Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron is Baron von Strucker, to be played by King Kong's Thomas Kretschmann. Now, Kretschmann has opened up about a multi-picture deal he’s repotedly made with Marvel.
In an interview with B.Z. Berlin, Kretschmann said, "I have a multi-picture deal which means I will not only appear in the 2nd part, but they're planning with me for a longer period of time. But I don't know details yet, they're keeping their cards close to their chest - top secret!"
Could Marvel be planting seeds for a HYDRA storyline? In the comics, von Strucker was leader of HYDRA, and at one point, so was Viper (who was already a villain in the Fox-owned The Wolverine). Could Marvel pull a “Quicksilver” and sneak a version of Viper on-screen?
Kretschmann goes on to say that me met up with director Joss Whedon “on the set.” As ComingSoon points out, principal photography starts later this month. Could they have been shooting a post-credits scene, perhaps?
Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.
