Fans seemed positive that Bryan Cranston had to be in the running to play Lex Luthor. Even after the Batman vs. Superman filmmakers and the Breaking Bad actor himself denied that was ever the case, there was an overwhelming outcry when the role ultimately didn't go to him. Now, Cranston is speaking out about those rumors yet again.
During an interview on Howard Stern's radio show, Cranston stated that, despite fervent reports that he was "on the verge of signing on," he was never even approached by Warner Bros. or anyone involved with the movie. "In the minds of fans, it's true," he said of his rumored involvement. "In the minds of the hierarchy of Warner Bros., it's not true."
Nevertheless, Cranston echoed his statement from last year that he would have enjoyed playing the part.
“Oh, oh, I would have welcomed it!" he said. "That would’ve been a [once-in-a-lifetime opportunity]; I think so!”
Batman vs. Superman hits theaters May 6, 2016, with Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) playing the role of Lex Luthor.
