Over the course of its nearly 30-year history, the Final Fantasy franchise has been home to dozens of memorable characters. Villains you love to hate. Heroes you can't help but root for. Complex, complicated protagonists that tell stories you'll never forget.

But... which character is your all time favorite? Final Fantasy IX's Vivi is part of an incredible, heartbreaking tale of identity crisis. But Final Fantasy VI's Kefka is one of the greatest video game villains of ever written. Or do you have a soft spot for one of the other 150+ major characters that play a part in the 15+ core Final Fantasy series? This nostalgia-fueled Final Fantasy face-off will technically never end. So feel free to check it out any time you want to see some familiar FF faces. But two weeks from now, on March 24, we'll reveal which characters have earned the most votes and come out on top. So don't delay!

The Fine Print: The Final Fantasy Character Face-Off contains 154 characters taken from the 14 main-line Final Fantasy games, their direct sequels, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Characters from other Final Fantasy titles or spin-offs have been excluded. All major protagonists and villains are included, as well as select NPCs that have major roles. Each character portrait notes which game the character is from, to avoid confusion when different characters with the same name appear in multiple games - Cid, we're looking at you. All match-ups are initially random. Over time an algorithm takes over, pitting characters of similar rank against one another, until a ranking consensus begins to emerge.

Lastly, this character face-off is intended to be a fun trip down memory lane for Final Fantasy fans. After all, how can you compare Matoya to Tidus? Or Kain to Terra? So please don't be too upset, and just smile at all your fond Final Fantasy memories instead.
