With dozens of releases every week, we know that it's hard to decide which comics are worth your buck. Or maybe you're new to comics and want a great jumping on point. That's why we are singling out our top picks for the hottest books to read from all the different publishers.
There are a ton of other comics coming out this week that aren't listed here, so be sure to show us what you'll be buying in the comments!
By Warren Ellis Declan Shalvey | Marvel Comics
We've got a thing for Moon Knight here at IGN, and with comics superstar Warren Ellis taking the character over, we couldn't be happier. The man behind the mask is Marc Spector, a dude with three split personalities who gets his powers from the mystical force of Khonshu. If that's too much to swallow, then just know that he's a crazy superhero who takes on threats even crazier than he is. Plus, with artist Declan Shalvey drawing Moon Knight in his sweet white tuxedo from Ellis's Secret Avengers run, it's a safe bet this title will look as awesome as it will read.
By Jason Latour & Mahmud A. Asrar | Marvel Comics
Weren't we just bawling our eyes out last week when Jason Aaron penned his final issue of Wolverine and the X-Men? In one heck of a quick turnaround, the series is relaunching this week under the new creative team of Jason Latour and Mahmud Asrar. This is the start of a brand new story for the faculty and students of the Jean Grey School, and given how funny, energetic, and downright loveable the previous series was, we are eager to see how this new iteration performs. As long as there's Doop and Bamfs it can't be that bad, right?
By Daniel Freedman & Sina Grace | Image Comics
The first two installments of Burn the Orphanage: Born To Lose knocked our socks off as they made homage to classic video games like Streets of Rage, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter, all while telling an action-packed and humorous story. Now, the final issue will take us to the world of platform gaming, presenting the biggest challenge yet for Rock, Lex, and -- our favorite -- Bear the gay bear with the heart of a bear. FIGHT!
By Greg Rucka & Toni Fejzula | Dark Horse Comics
Seeing how he's responsible for such high-quality comics as Batwoman, Lazarus, and Gotham Central, anything that Greg Rucka puts out is worth notice. Veil is about a young woman who wakes up in an abandoned subway station with no memory of how she got there, but before long, people start coming after her -- and they all wind up dead. An intriuging mystery, a woman with possible crazy abilities, and Rucka? Consider it bought.
By Geoff Johns & David Finch | DC Comics
We have been digging Forever Evil and have become completely wrapped up in the mysteries of it all. How will Lex Luthor save the world from the Crime Syndicate? What will happen to Nightwing? Is that Darkseid on the horizon? And the mystery that keeps us awake at night -- who is under that dang hood?! Hopefully, the penultimate issue of this series will have these answers and more.
By Greg Pak & Aaron Kuder | DC Comics
Action Comics is the place to go for the best Superman story being published today. Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder have injected the character with a levity and charisma that has been long missing. Plus, supporting characters like the smart and brazen Lana Lang and the mysterious and deadly Ghost Solider make it all the more captivating. Get on board this one now, folks.
By Jim Lee & Clayburn Moore | DC Collectibles
Jim Lee is largely responsible for the style of how comics look today, so when a statue of his work gets made, it's always worth notice. This Wonder Woman: Art of War statue is all sorts of amazing. From the red/white knee-high boots to the Amazonian sword and shield to the hair and cape blowing in the wind, this is a piece that we can't wait to add to our collections.
